INK Slam: L.A. Poetry Fest

If you are familiar with the art form of spoken word poetry you will want to be at Ink Slam. If you are NOT familiar with the art form of spoken word poetry you will want to be at Ink Slam.

This year at Hollywood’s Greenway Court Theater there will be battle, celebration, education, and so much more. Ink Slam was born out of the home of Da Poetry Lounge and collaboration with the Greenway Arts Alliance. For four days the theater will host workshops, slams, and showcases, drawing in special guests from all over the nation and a capacity crowd.

Some of this year’s highlights are Mohogany Brown’s one woman show Black Girls Don’t Smile Mosaic, Youth Open Mic, Poetic Intervention with Thea Monyee,  and the business of Spoken Word with renowned poet Shihan. This year will prove to be amazing and you won’t want to face yourself should you miss any of the days.

If for some reason however you aren’t able to make it in person the entire festival will be available live streaming available on the program website.

Ink Slam is July 11th -14th at Greenway Court theater, for more information visit inkslam.org.
