Every once in a while you meet a voice. A voice you never thought existed. Perfect as an angels whisper, and as sweet as pure agave in a porcelain tea cup never sipped from. Alex Isley is one of the purest voices that will ever touch you ears. Blessed with synesthesia (aka color hearing that allows her to see a color according to the musical note) this classically trained Jazz singer and graduate of UCLA’s music program paints beautiful portraits for ears like no other vocalist I have known. If her last name looks familiar then duh she’s an actually Isley as in Isley Brothers (her father is legendary guitarist Ernie Isley). With royal blood running through her veins she has a legendary voice blessed with perfect pitch tucked behind her very coy and humble aura.

Her cover is easily the most beautiful piece of a wav form I have heard all year (yes, it is only February, but still this is that good!). Please do share it if it moves you.
Alex’s most recent project “Dreams In Analog” is all completely self written and produced and is available NOW. “For The Stars” is my favorite gem from the project. This song puts you in such a dream like place with just a touch of euphoric to bounce it.

When I listen to music I try to close my eyes and have my own iTunes visualizer going on, when I hear an Alex Isley Isley song I visualize that it is the perfect soundtrack to human levitation. If you’ve still got the chills please do let you ears be covered in another cover of the late Amy Winehouse’s extra soulful “HeCanOnlyHoldHer”

Alex is not without collaborations as well on her resume. I’m thankful to say she has also blessed my art with her vocals on a duet from my most recent project “//Neon . Summer .//”

The harmonies carry the track to a new realm and allow a smile to dance across your face effortlessly. Whenever I hear her voice on a song it makes me think of the Radiohead song “Everything In It’s Right Place.” because it really is!
Channeling the pure bliss of reciprocation her song “About Him” is an amazing dedication that begins with her sampling a pitched up version of herself. Every line feels so honest like a love letter you wrote back in the day and asked her to “do you like me?” and she could circle yes, no, or maybe (I never put the option of maybe, I needed to know the real off top even as a 8 year old.)

She is a breath of the sweetest air. The brilliantly bright lyrics she lays out on “The Other Side” are something to write home, work, an ex, or even just the person who works @ Target about. She allows herself to be an instrument and play her own voice as a trumpet toward the end of this one.

Even if she is the daughter of a legend she is creating her own lane on her own freeway. In a world of hype, twerking, and gimmicks she just lets her art speak volumes even if she has to whispers murals into your earlobes.

Have you ever come across a person that was giving off such an incredible energy that it was almost distracting? The type of person embodies such a beautiful presence it is immediately noticeable in a room. We all have this ability in us, the ability to let our inner beauty shine outwardly. It is necessarily related to our physique or body but more so a feeling. It can be something we carry with us constantly or a feeling we get when we are doing something we love. There is beauty in all women, but they don’t always see it. In a series of images I aimed to not only highlight individual differences but also subdue the divisive contrast that causes distracts some women from their own beauty. The Copy Me Project is the attempt to celebrate captivating moments of beauty with women of various physical, and personal, characteristics. It is an on going project that has show through out downtown Los Angeles and has been met with warm regards.
I am experimenting with shooting women in a way that shows their natural beauty. It is an exercise in capturing them while undressed that reduces focus on the body but highlights their personality. I have found that when done effectively can provide a new sense of confidence in my subjects and appreciation of their own physical attributes.
I photographed , new mother and wife, Stephanie and we talked about life, family, and her own goals. I was intrigued to find that when she spoke of her child and husband her entire posture and consonance seemed to change. I captured some great images of her from which a few are below. After the shoot I was able to meet both her husband and young son and after doing so I can see exactly why they bring her such joy.
Thank you Stephanie and your family for allowing me to see that joy and photograph you for my project.
I’m browsing DeviantArt.com about 2 and a half years ago and I come across a monument of a woman staring back at me stark nude and I fall in love. In a world where you find yourself shooting one size 2 after another London Andrews stands out. I assume she might stand out in any world, but I’d be wrong in that assumption. For 2 years I follow her work and dream of the day when I would be of a caliber to work with this woman. I tried set up a shoot with her last year to no avail. I head back to my trade and continue to cultivate my art until earlier this year we are finally able to get together. When she arrive the day of the shoot I don’t recognize her. I am looking for a super hero of a woman but to surprise I see a quant lady in glasses and nothing really flashy for clothing. “I like to dress comfortably,” she says.
It is now that I realize there are two personalities inside this body. During our shoot I became increasingly interested in her and how her life is arranged. I asked her a few questions and after our work was done she obliged in letting me take a few photos of her that sort of show her transformation.
When she is not the globetrotting nude model,London Andrews. She is just a 26 yr. old woman on a journey to see the world and experience all life has to offer. When she is NOT London Andrews she is a sweet girl that giggles and wears baggy clothes that hide her figure. She has issues with her body, and hates when a guy stares at her breasts longer than he stares into her eyes. When she is NOT London Andrews she pays her best friend’s way to travel with her all summer. “I told him to quit his job and come with me. I said, ‘I’ll pay for everything.'” She hails from Austin, Texas, loves music festivals and the outdoors, long walks on the beach etc. Nothing terribly exciting and certainly not what you think your going to get when you see her photos.
I am curious as to how a shy girl from Texas makes her way into the world of modeling and particularly being a nude figure model. As far as I could tell most of her personality is completely contradictory the wanting to do this kind of work. It seems a friend of hers had a school project and needed to take pictures of someone nude. Isn’t that how it always starts? That experience snowballs into a career where her voluptuous nature is a golden ticket. Her measurements are 46″-33″-48″. She is 5’5″ 180 pounds and that puts her at a dress size 14. The average model in her profession wears a size 4 so she definitely is a spike in the numbers. No less attractive, she is a testament to the saying that “Everything is bigger in Texas” and in this case, talent is no exception.
London Andrews is one of the most emotive models I have worked with. She clicks on the switch from mere mortal to a goddess that commands any lens pointed in her direction. I didn’t have to find the shots because she gave them to me. She delivers looks with perfect timing. I ended up with images I didn’t know I wanted and I am so excited to show our collaboration later this year. Her ability to harness her emotions has taken her to the United Kingdom, Africa, Guatemala, to name a brief few. Along with travel though does not come with its danger. She told me a story about the photographer holding her ticket and not allowing her to leave. She doesn’t travel along and makes sure she has an exit strategy for whatever travel arrangements are made should the other party fail to hold up their end of the bargain. For the moment she is living her dream but in a few years she fears, gravity may take its toll on her body and the work may not flow as easily. Whatever happens to her appearance she will surely retain her ageless internal beauty and subtle charm.
